Film critic Gore sets indie parody

Film Threat critic Chris Gore has turned writer-producer with the feature "My Big Fat Independent Movie," a parody of the indie film world starring Paget Brewster, Neil Barton and Eric Hoffman. Described by Gore as being in the vein of the "Scary Movie" franchise, "Fat" includes satirical takes on such indie fare as "Amelie," "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," "Memento," "Secretary," "Pulp Fiction," "Run Lola Run," "A," "Swingers" and others. Gore co-wrote the "Fat" screenplay with Adam Schwartz and Yoni Berkovits. Philip Zlotorynski is helming the project, in production with locations in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. "Fat" is being financed through Aloha Pictures. "The film is a love letter to the indie community and those who take the kinds of risks that Hollywood traditionally avoids. It's a low-brow comedy for the high-brow crowd," Gore said. Zlotorynski's credits include the short films "Sway" and "Walkentalk." (Ian Mohr and Chris Gardner)
